How to setup Ubuntu

Download Ubuntu and install with default settings.

Optional – manually partition hard drive with a swap partition:

Installing an additional hard drive, you will need to set it up to auto mount and give it a friendly name:

To activate Desktop Sharing (aka VNC):  Once logged in, log out and under the login settings, choose the Ubuntu 2D desktop.   TightVNC is a good vnc client for windows that works well with ubuntu. RealVNC is also good.

 

Once installed, configure samba for file sharing:

Now configure DLNA.
